Andreas Busk-Jepsen hat die Idee des präparierten Klaviers wieder aufgenommen und ein Live-Pack produziert, das 37 Samples beinhaltet. Aufgenommen wurden die Klänge in der Konzerthalle des Esbjerg Konservatoriums in Dänemark.

Pieces of wood, strips of plastic, rubber, bamboo and cloth as well as weather stripping, bolts, screws, nuts and coins… placed between the strings of a grand piano… This instrument is one of many ingenious musical inventions thought out by sound philosopher, inventor and revolutionary composer John Cage (1912-1992).

This original arrangement of everyday objects placed between the strings of a grand piano has become known as the ‘prepared piano’. Although the instrument sounds amazing and like something out of this world, it is largely overlooked.

Sonart Audio bietet eine kostenlose Sample-Library des Yamaha C7 Grand Piano zum Download an. Das sind über 800 Samples mit einem Datenvolumen von 1,68GB.

Die Samples stehen in den Formaten EXS24, Kontakt 2.1, Kontakt 1.5, Giga 2, Giga 3, Halion und Wav zur Verfügung und wurden mit 44,1 kHz/24 bit in 20 verschiedenen Lautstärken für jeweils 40 Sekunden aufgenommen. Zusätzlich gibt es Release- und Geräusch-Layer.

Den Download gibt’s hier, man muss sich allerdings registrieren.
